The School Completion Programme (SCP) is a Tusla funded programme that
aims to have a significant positive impact on young people through
their educational journey. We work with young people at both primary
and post primary level. We also support students to transition to
educational/training alternatives suited to their educational needs.
We strive to improve attendance, participation and retention.

Our service is generally a school-based programme that operates
through 4 schools. 3 primary and 1 post primary. As part of the SCP
team the Project Worker will offer support in-school, after-school,
out-of-school and through holiday provision.

JOB DESCRIPTION

* To report to and work under the direction of the Local Management
Committee (LMC) & the SCP Coordinator in relation to all aspects of
the project
* To engage targeted young people and their families(where
necessary) In-School, Out-of-School, After-School and during Holiday
periods.
( *% of weekly hours should be devoted to direct
contact time with clients)
* To build professional relationships with students, families, SCP
staff, school staff and staff from external agencies that work in
conjunction with the SCP
* To work as part of the SCP team in identifying student needs and
developing appropriate timely interventions
* To design, facilitate and evaluate programmes relevant to the
needs identified
* To facilitate group/individual and class work with students as
required
* To maintain up-to-date records of all work undertaken
* To assist with evaluations, reviews and future planning sessions
* To be student centred in all aspects of the work
* To participate in regular team meetings
* To participate in all relevant training
* To adhere to all relevant school policies and procedures

APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Recognised qualification in Youth, Community, Social Work or
Education and/or at least 3 years’ experience of working with young
people.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

* Ability to plan, implement and evaluate programmes
* Ability to self-evaluate and critically reflect upon own work
* Written and oral communication skills
* IT skills, the ability to write reports, collect and collate data.
* Ability to facilitate small group, whole class work, and
one-to-one sessions with students aged *
* Knowledge of the Irish educational system
* Full driving licence and use of car
* Experience of delivering programmes to young people
